Name and a Blessing Dress

We blessed Susie yesterday and I thought that I would share with you about her name and her blessing dress.
We love family names, all the names that we have use for our children are family names. The name Susan comes from two special people. First my Aunt Susie is my dads younger sister. She lives in New York, I was a nanny for her for a while and we developed a great relationship. She also has a great story behind her name. When she was born my grandma named her Susie, that was her name legally on her birth certificate, but when my grandpa saw that he said that this little girl would some day be a woman and she would be a Susan not a Susie, so he had her name legally changed.
The Second person is Peters Moms Sister. Aunt Susan has always been Susan never Susie. Susan is a wonderful and very creative woman. She currently lives in Hawaii.

The dress that Susie was blessed in first belonged to my mom when she was a baby. Also the blanket that we wrapped Susie in was the blanket that my mom was brought home from the hospital in. Then I was brought home and blessed in the dress and blanket. (I wish I had pictures.)

I love traditions and family names. I love that there is a reason and meaning behind the names of my children.
