I don't know if many if you know that I was living in New York at the time of the attacks on the World Trade Center. I was a nanny for my aunt and uncle at the time, who live in Long Beach, Long Island. I remember that day well and did what most of you did. I watched everything over and over again on TV and talked to as many people that I could that lived in Manhattan. My Uncle Brian Heffernan is a cop for NYPD and had two brothers who were FDNY. That day my uncle was on sick leave and one of his brothers had the day off. The other brother John was one on the first on the scene.
If you look behind the Firefighters putting up the flag you will see a firetruck on its side in the background that is Johns truck.
They didn't find Johns body until October 2nd. I remember very well the days, that I watched and waited with Johns family. My uncles brother Mike didn't want to leave ground zero until he found John, but is was on a day that he was not there that John was found.

I will always remember this day, seven years ago, and the days and weeks that followed.

That was a sad day. It's sad how soon we forget things like this that have happened in our country's history.
Thanks for the reminder. We should never forget these brave patriots.
I remember being out there just weeks before 9-11, with you playing our tour guide. I had so much fun seeing all the sights. It made 9-11 all the more real and heart wrenching.
